Meth Coalition - Education

The Ron Gardner Meth Coalition has developed a teaching packet that addresses prevention of methamphetmine use.  Please contact the RGMCP at team@riseabovemeth.org if you are interested in obtaining a teaching packet or would like to schedule a presentation.

The teaching packet includes a copy of RISE Above Meth, a 27 minute documentary produced by the RGMCP.  To view a sample of the documentary www.riseabovemeth.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=31&Itemid=36.  The teaching packet also includes the Meth360 curriculum (www.drugfree.org/Meth360) and several handouts that include: Methamphetamine:  Children at Risk; Drug Guide for Parents:  Learn the Facts to Keep Your Teen Safe; Five Teach Moments; Tips for Teens:  Methamphetamine; and the Ron Gardner Meth Coalition Project Brochure.

Additionally, the following documents have also been collected to provide educational insights regarding meth.  Please click on the downloadable files to view them.  Some of them are scanned brochures produced by federal and state agencies, and original copies can be obtained at the Hastings Public Library.

Finally, some contents may be too graphic for younger viewers.  Those documents whose title includes the word "graphic" contain pictures of the disturbing effects of meth on the body.

Children of Addicted Parents Education Support Group

Because one in four children is affected by alcohol abuse or alcoholism in their family and many, many more are hurt by parental drug use,  this program is designed specifically to provide support for those children in our area.  When programs provide educational support groups for children:  family stress is reduced, children's sense of stigma and shame is reduced, family recovery is enhanced, and treatment outcomes improve.

For more information about this education support group, please email the coalition at team@riseabovemeth.org or view this Power Point
